Mode of selection

The IB JIO (Grade-II Technical) selection is generally a multi-stage process — CBT (Tier-I), skill test/subject test (Tier-II), and interview/personality test or document verification depending on the post. Here’s the commonly published structure for 2025:

Tier-I — Computer Based Test (CBT)

  • Mode: Online (CBT).

  • Duration: 2 hours (120 minutes).

  • Type: Objective Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs).

  • Marks: 100 marks (commonly) — mixture of General Mental Ability/Logical Reasoning/General Awareness and subject-specific technical questions (electrical/electronics/computer science topics depending on the stream).

  • Negative marking: Generally 0.25 marks deducted for each wrong answer (confirm from the official notification).

Tier-II — Skill/Subject Test

  • Purpose: To test practical technical skills or deeper subject knowledge (may be descriptive/computer practical or skill evaluation). This stage is usually qualifying in nature.

Tier-III — Interview / Personality Test & Document Verification

  • Shortlisted candidates after Tier-I and Tier-II are called for document verification and interview/personality assessment. Final selection is based on combined performance and availability of posts.

Note: Exact marks distribution, number of stages and weightage for each stage are specified in the official notification — always rely on the notification for final format.
