Officer Entry Exams
NDA (Navy): Through UPSC NDA exam. After 12th with Physics & Maths.
CDS (Combined Defence Services): For graduates. UPSC exam.
INET (Indian Navy Entrance Test): For Executive, Education, and Technical branches. Graduate in relevant discipline.
SSC (Short Service Commission): For IT, Logistics, Pilot, Observer. Separate notifications.
University Entry Scheme (UES): For pre‑final year engineering students.
10+2 B.Tech Cadet Entry: Through JEE Main rank.
Sailor Entry Exams
SSR (Senior Secondary Recruit): For 12th pass with Maths, Physics, Chem/Bio/Comp Sci. Age 17‑20. Written + PFT + medical. Joins as Sailor in various branches.
AA (Artificer Apprentice): Similar to SSR but higher technical training. 12th with 60% in PCM.
MR (Matric Recruit): For 10th pass for Chef, Steward, Sanitary Hygienist. Written exam based on 10th level.
NMR (Non Matric Recruit): For recruits below 10th pass (rare).

Exam Pattern for Navy Exams
SSR & AA: Written exam (100 questions, 1 hour) – English, Science, Mathematics, General Awareness. Then Physical Fitness Test (PFT) – 1.6 km run, squats, push‑ups. Medical exam.
INET: 100 questions each section: English, Reasoning & Numerical Ability, General Science & GK, plus a section on the specific subject. Duration 2 hours.
CDS: English, General Knowledge, and Mathematics (for INA) – 2 hours each.
Navy Sailor Salary & Benefits
During initial training, stipend about Rs. 14,600/month. After training, Level‑3 pay (Rs. 21,700–69,100) plus MSP Rs. 5,200, DA, free food/ration, accommodation, medical for family, and pension after 15 years under new Agnipath scheme (if applicable). Officers start at Level‑10 with higher MSP.

1. Study NCERT science and maths up to 10th/12th level for sailor exams.
